About Yurihama

Origin of the town name

The name of our town Yurihama is a combination of three Japanese characters, which refer to the region’s attractions: Lake Tōgō hot springs, 20th Century-branded pears, and the nearby white sandy beaches of the Sea of Japan coastline.

Location of Yurihama town

With an area of 77.94 km², Yurihama town is centrally located near the coast of Tottori Prefecture. It is adjacent to the Sea of Japan in the north, Hokueichō and Kurayoshi City to the west, Misasachō to the south, and Tottori City to the east.

Hawai Onsen

Located on the west shore of Lake Tōgō, one of the eight most beautiful views in the San’in Region, Hawai hot springs were formerly called Asozu Onsen. The abundant quantity of hot water welling up from the bottom of the lake has ensured the popularity of our 100% natural hot springs. The traditional-style inn (ryokan) is located on a sandbank surrounded by the lake as if it were a hot spring paradise floating on the lake, offering a unique experience of seasonal landscapes reflected on its glimmering surface. Additionally, you can enjoy a foot bath tour at four nearby foot spas.

Tōgō Onsen

The Tōgō Onsen area is located on the south shore of Lake Tōgō and is famous for a legend of a gossamer robe worn by a celestial nymph. There are many traditional-style inns (ryokan) between JR Matsuzaki Station and the lakeside area. Delicious shijimi clams, beautiful scenes of waterfowl on the lake, and stunning sunset views from the Yotsudeami fishing area typify this scenic hot spring area. Clear, high-quality hot water of approximately 70 degrees abundantly wells up from the spring’s source. It is a 100% natural hot spring. Two foot spa sites in the area are popular for eggs lightly boiled in the hot spring waters (onsen tamago).

Lake Tōgō Shijimi clams

Nicknamed Black Diamonds, delicious shijimi clams from Lake Tōgō are bigger than usual thanks to the lake’s brackish water. The Lake Tōgō Yamato Shijimi is one of three varieties of clams found in Japan.
